Facilities

Located on 150 acres outside of Fort Worth, Texas we spent a lot of time trying to figure out where we wanted our home to be. Since our main focus are our cutting and reining horses we wanted an area where we could actively show in those disciplines. Watermark started off with just ten stalls but quickly expanded to accomodate our growth in other disciplines and expanding our current show string.

In March of 2009 we remodeled and added eighteen stalls, giving us a total of 28. We also bought 90 more acres and have 50 fenced off for pasture use. Also added are two medium arenas (one outdoor and one indoor) that both have rubber and sand footing in them for all-weather use.

As time and our total number of horses progressed we quickly expanded and by April 2010 had 75 stalls with 25 outdoor shelters allowing for 100 horses to be housed at Watermark. A six horse hot walker and 60 foot round pen were also added to accomodate the growing number of horses and our round pen, along with using it for the younger horses, can be used for our cutting horses. As time passed, we also broke our farm into several divisions: Fox Hollow Farm and Broadway Farm for our english horses and saddleseat horses, respectively.

Riders

At Watermark Farm, we have riders of all levels ride and show our horses. Many of our horses are younger and therefore not used for lessons but some of the more mature horses are shown by youth riders. We teach responsibility and require riders to learn about caring for the horse, rather than just riding and competing. Each of our riders has a horse, or several horses, that are 'theirs' to form a bond with. We try and keep our horses with the same rider as long as their skill level is still appropriate and they are still progressing well together. Below are some of the riders showing for Watermark Farm.
Ashley Evans Born in 1981. Ashley is the owner and founder of Watermark Farm. Her main focus are the cutting and reining horses but she does ride several hunters. In 2009, while riding Pepto's Smart Playgirl she topped the Non-Pro leaderboards and came in third overall for the year in the 4 to 6 Year Old class.
Nick Evans Born in 1979. Nick is our resident cutting and reining trainer and shows many of our horses. He enjoys breaking and riding the colts in their first few years of riding. He is very patient with the colts and has a soft hand and has really helped some of the horses we have thrive. In 2009, he rode Tronas Prescription to a world championship in Open Senior Cutting Horse and Haidas Black Magic to a world championship in the Open Junior Cutting Horse.
Luke Bradley Born in 1986. Luke came to us with limited riding ability but dove in quickly to learn as much as he could. Within a short period of time he was practically living at our barn and is basically Nick's 'right hand man'. We are hoping to make him our assistant trainer soon when he feels he is ready, probably in a year or so and he can help Nick with the older horses as Nick prefers the younger ones.
Rachel Griffen Born in 1986.
